It sounds as if Rush Limbaugh will bring a truckload of Tea Party along with his truckload of tea when he comes to Joplin' Landreth Park Monday night.
On his show Friday, which was aired locally on KZRG, Limbaugh said the following:
"I'm gonna tell you something else is gonna happen at Landreth Park in Joplin on Monday night: We're gonna grow the Republican Party. It's a Fourth of July celebration. We have the Harvard survey from yesterday: Fourth of July parades breed Republicans. Young kids at Fourth of July parties tend to end up being Republican. Fourth of July celebrations do not have any patriotic impact on Democrats. This is from a Harvard survey. We had it yesterday. Now, you Democrats, you can try to throw cold water all you want on what we're doing Monday night in Joplin, but I just want to remind you what's actually happening Monday night in Joplin, Missouri. Not only the continuing rebirth of a great community, and not only the joining of people coming together for a singular purpose (well, actually multipurpose) but we're also growing the conservative movement. Try that!"

He couldn't have just said "We're going to help a lot of people in Joplin?"
He ain't coming there to help the people of Joplin, he's coming there to sell tea.
He's a salesman and a showman, just like our auctioneer.
It's a shame too, to politicize an event, I'm steering clear.
Why can't Neo-cons and Tea partiers ever admit that regardless of party we are all Americans. We are all patriotic. We all love our country. Why do they think that people who do not agree with them are somehow the enemy. This country was built on compromise and our elected officials doing what is best for the people. Having allegiance to the Constitution. Not showing their allegiance to special interests by signing pledges and making speeches about the other party being godless.
I don't care what the man's politics are if he's here with a shovel and chainsaw....But I think he is just "cashing in on the Joplin coin" Using us for his own personal gain just like the other thieves and looters and profiteers.
I believed we called them carpetbaggers after the war between the states.
Rush, Schmush.
He's a radio blow hard, but even a no talent hack, like moi, gets his 'Harvard study' satire.
Besides, anyone who donates anything to heal Joplin's wounds is a hero in my book.
You boys need to unclench your collective sphincters.
If he were coming to heal Joplin's wounds, you might have a point. But his own words state he's here to build (his version of) the conservative movement. He's not bringing help, he's bringing a political stunt that was going somewhere else but Joplin offered the best spotlight for his buffoonery and mocking. His philosophy would leave large swaths of Joplin a virtual ghost town for decades. All the volunteers who shoveled and carried debris at my crumbled house never once...not once...made any kind of political statement. We may have prayed together, but it was only after the work and without any obligation. Limbaugh is just profiteering on Joplin's grief. He's a turkey vulture, not an American eagle.
Hooray for Rush. Hooray for the Harvard study that shows Democrats snobbery and lack of faith in America. Hooray for Joplin and hooray for the Red, White, and Blue.
Limbaugh is a Missourian and a patriot. Where Weiner?
I'm not sure how he plans to grow the Republican Party here. Everyone who is going to be a Republican already is.
To the first anonymous, Rush did say that they are going to help the people of Joplin. The writer of this blog just took one individual sound byte and put it completely out of context in order to advance his liberal agenda.
You shouldn't be surprised, Turner's "about me" says it all: "formerly an award winning reporter/editor for various Missouri newspapers."
The liberal slant is therefore established and well documented.
I am amazed at how ridiculous the last comment was. There is no way the statement was taken out of context. I printed enough of it to make that abundantly clear. And if you believe that working on newspapers in southwest Missouri makes a person a liberal, you definitely did not ever talk with some of the people I worked with over the years. I worked with many who were to the right of Rush Limbaugh.
Look up the use of the words "well established and documented" before you inaccurately toss them around.
@7:14, he's giving the tea away. You can have a bottle too.
Mr. Turner, you forget the only reason Rush made the comment was because Harvard conducted some silly divisive study that concluded Independence day was basically recruiting rhetoric for the Republican party. Rush was only remarking on the Harvard study that showed children are more likely to become Republicans if they go to Independence Day celebrations. Apparently, 7:38 needs to reconsider their comment. Go look up the transcript of his show.
For those who think Rush is cashing in for Joplin, please. What is he going to get out of this. Those pandering politicians that continue to visit your town for a photo op, well, there's some people looking for personal gain.
Don't forget to ask Limpbaugh whether he agrees with the claim that disaster relief money should come to Joplin only if Congress can figure out where else in the budget to cut the same amount of funds.
The Rush to post tornado Joplin and his desire to grow the con party gives rise to a new movement called "disaster politics". All heil!
Randy, it's plain to see by looking at your previous blog postings involving anything political that you clearly lean to the left/liberal side. Don't try to deny it. I suggest dusting off the mirror if you can't see that...
