(From the Missouri Republican Party)
David Cole, Chairman of the Missouri Republican Party, released the following statement on Congressman Todd Akin’s victory in the U.S. Senate primary:
“I congratulate Congressman Todd Akin on his victory in Missouri’s Republican primary for U.S. Senate.
“Missourians now have a clear choice in November: a conservative leader in Congress who opposes the stimulus, Obamacare, new taxes on America’s job creators or a Washington liberal who has voted 95% of the time with Barack Obama.
“Already, surveys show that Congressman Akin begins his general election campaign with a lead over McCaskill, and as he continues to contrast his conservative vision with McCaskill’s record of rubberstamping Obama’s reckless agenda, his lead will grow.
“I would also like to commend John Brunner and Sarah Steelman for their hard-fought and honorable campaigns. Both of these candidates continue to be passionate defenders of conservatism and pillars of the Missouri GOP. I know that Mr. Brunner and Treasurer Steelman will work tirelessly over the next three months to elect Todd Akin and defeat Claire McCaskill.”
