WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT FROM 6 PM THIS EVENING TO NOON CST SUNDAY... ...WIND CHILL WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 6 PM SUNDAY TO NOON CST MONDAY... THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SPRINGFIELD HAS ISSUED A WIND CHILL WARNING...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 6 PM SUNDAY TO NOON CST MONDAY. THE WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW IS NOW IN EFFECT FROM 6 PM THIS EVENING TO NOON CST SUNDAY. * SHORT TERM TRENDS...A MIXTURE OF PATCHY DRIZZLE AND LIGHT RAIN WILL TRANSITION TO LIGHT SNOW THIS EVENING. SNOW ACCUMULATIONS FROM A DUSTING UP TO AN INCH WILL BE POSSIBLE THROUGH MIDNIGHT...ESPECIALLY UP TOWARDS TRUMAN LAKE. LIGHT TO MODERATE SNOW IS THEN EXPECTED TO DEVELOP FROM LATE TONIGHT INTO SUNDAY MORNING. * TIMING AND AREAS AFFECTED...AREAS WEST OF THE HIGHWAY 65 CORRIDOR FROM THIS EVENING THROUGH SUNDAY MORNING. * SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...SNOWFALL AMOUNTS WILL RANGE FROM 2 TO 5 INCHES WITH THE HIGHEST AMOUNTS CLOSER TO HIGHWAY 65. * WINDS AND VISIBILITY...SUSTAINED NORTH WINDS OF 15 TO 25 MPH WITH GUSTS OVER 30 MPH ARE EXPECTED FROM LATE TONIGHT THROUGH MUCH OF SUNDAY. THIS WILL CREATE BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW WHILE FREQUENTLY REDUCING VISIBILITIES TO LESS THAN A MILE. * WIND CHILL VALUES...WIND CHILLS WILL FALL INTO THE SINGLE DIGITS BELOW ZERO SUNDAY MORNING AND THEN FALL INTO THE -20 TO -30 BELOW ZERO RANGE FROM LATE SUNDAY NIGHT INTO EARLY MONDAY MORNING. AIR TEMPERATURES WILL FALL INTO THE 0 TO -10 DEGREE RANGE BY MONDAY MORNING...WITH THE COLDEST READING ACROSS CENTRAL MISSOURI. * IMPACTS...TRAVEL CONDITIONS WILL DETERIORATE FROM NORTHWEST TO SOUTHEAST FROM THIS EVENING INTO SUNDAY MORNING...INCLUDING STATE HIGHWAYS 54...60...AND 13...ALONG WITH INTERSTATES 49 AND 44. DANGEROUSLY COLD CONDITIONS WILL ALSO DEVELOP STARTING LATE TONIGHT AND PERSIST THROUGH EARLY NEXT WEEK. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW MEANS THAT VISIBILITIES WILL BE LIMITED DUE TO A COMBINATION OF FALLING AND BLOWING SNOW. USE CAUTION WHEN TRAVELING...ESPECIALLY IN OPEN AREAS. A WIND CHILL WARNING MEANS THE COMBINATION OF VERY COLD AIR AND STRONG WINDS WILL CREATE DANGEROUSLY LOW WIND CHILL VALUES. THIS WILL RESULT IN FROST BITE AND LEAD TO HYPOTHERMIA OR DEATH IF PRECAUTIONS ARE NOT TAKEN.
