Wind chills in Joplin area could reach 30 below by Monday morning

...WINTER STORM DEPARTING THE OZARKS WITH DANGEROUSLY COLD
TEMPERATURES IN ITS WAKE...

.LOW PRESSURE CENTERED OVER THE OHIO VALLEY WILL CONTINUE TO
TRACK EAST-NORTHEASTWARD AWAY FROM THE OZARKS THIS AFTERNOON.
LIGHT SNOW AND FLURRIES BEHIND THE LOW WILL END FROM WEST TO EAST
INTO EARLY THIS EVENING. EVEN THOUGH THE SNOW WILL BE ENDING
ACROSS THE REGION...BRISK AND GUSTY NORTH TO NORTHWEST WINDS WILL
CONTINUE INTO THIS EVENING...PRODUCING BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW.
WIND CHILLS WILL REMAIN IN THE 0 TO -10 RANGE THROUGHOUT THE
AFTERNOON AND WILL FALL INTO THE -10 TO -20 DEGREE RANGE THIS
EVENING. DANGEROUSLY COLD WIND CHILLS ARE THEN EXPECTED OVERNIGHT
AS TEMPERATURES FALL INTO THE 0 TO -13 RANGE. WIND CHILLS BY
EARLY MONDAY MORNING WILL RANGE FROM -20 TO -30.

* SHORT TERM TRENDS...LIGHT SNOW AND FLURRIES WILL SLOWLY END FROM
  WEST TO EAST ACROSS EXTREME SOUTHEASTERN KANSAS AND WESTERN
  MISSOURI THIS AFTERNOON. ADDITIONAL ACCUMULATIONS WILL BE MINOR.
  BLOWING AND DRIFTING OF SNOW WILL CONTINUE INTO EARLY THIS
  EVENING AS STRONG AND GUSTY NORTH TO NORTHWEST WINDS PERSIST.

* TIMING AND AREAS AFFECTED...AREAS WEST OF THE HIGHWAY 65
  CORRIDOR THROUGH EARLY THIS EVENING.

  THE WIND CHILL WARNING IS IN EFFECT FROM THIS EVENING THROUGH
  MONDAY MORNING.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...ADDITIONAL SNOW ACCUMULATIONS WILL BE
  MINOR.

* WINDS AND VISIBILITY...SUSTAINED NORTH WINDS OF 15 TO 25 MPH
  WITH GUSTS OVER 30 MPH WILL CONTINUE INTO EARLY THIS EVENING.
  THIS WILL CREATE BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW WHILE FREQUENTLY
  REDUCING VISIBILITIES TO LESS THAN A MILE.

* WIND CHILL VALUES...WIND CHILLS WILL FALL INTO THE MINUS 20 TO
  MINUS 30 BELOW ZERO RANGE FROM LATE TONIGHT INTO EARLY MONDAY
  MORNING. AIR TEMPERATURES WILL FALL INTO THE 0 TO MINUS 13
  DEGREE RANGE BY MONDAY MORNING...WITH THE COLDEST READINGS
  ACROSS CENTRAL MISSOURI.

* IMPACTS...TRAVEL CONDITIONS WILL BE DIFFICULT THROUGH EARLY THIS
  EVENING...INCLUDING STATE HIGHWAYS 54...60...AND 13...ALONG
  WITH INTERSTATES 49 AND 44. DANGEROUSLY COLD CONDITIONS WILL
  ALSO PERSIST EARLY THIS WEEK.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR BLOWING SNOW MEANS THAT
VISIBILITIES WILL BE LIMITED DUE TO STRONG WINDS BLOWING SNOW
AROUND. USE CAUTION WHEN TRAVELING...ESPECIALLY IN OPEN AREAS.

A WIND CHILL WARNING MEANS THE COMBINATION OF VERY COLD AIR AND
STRONG WINDS WILL CREATE DANGEROUSLY LOW WIND CHILL VALUES. THIS
WILL RESULT IN FROST BITE AND LEAD TO HYPOTHERMIA OR DEATH IF
PRECAUTIONS ARE NOT TAKEN.
