Free masks available for Joplin residents at five locations

(From the City of Joplin)

Residents who missed the recent mask distribution offered by the City of Joplin can still pick up a free mask. The City has masks available at City Hall Main Lobby, Police Department foyer, and some Fire Stations from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. They are being offered via self-serve, and residents can pick up a mask for themselves as well as other family members or neighbors who may need one but have not received one yet. This will be offered through Friday, August 7, or until supplies are diminished.

Masks will be available 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Friday, August 7 or until supply is gone, at these locations:

Joplin City Hall Main Lobby, 602 South Main Street
Joplin Police Department, 303 East 3rd Street, south entrance
Fire Station #2 at 2825 W Junge Boulevard

Fire Station #4 at 3402 S. Main Street
Fire Station #6 at 5302 W. 32nd Street

The City gave out nearly 20,000 masks in the past two weeks to residents who drove through the distribution site established at the Memorial Hall parking lot. Joplin City Council authorized the City to purchase 50,000 cloth masks for the purpose of distributing one mask per resident in Joplin as a proactive measure to reduce the spread of coronavirus.

Residents are reminded that the City’s mask distribution is not intended as the sole source for residents to have a mask, but to supplement the availability of masks to our residents. Masks will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis, however our order allows for one mask per resident.
