The good news- Missouri's streak of setting records for new COVID-19 cases ended after four straight days.
The bad news- the state shot past 40,000 coronavirus cases today, recording 1,357 new cases, a total that would have been the most recorded in one day only three days ago.
The state's COVID-19 count stands at 40,709, according to statistics released this afternoon by the Department of Health and Senior Services.
The state's one-day high, 1,652 cases, was set Friday, breaking the previous high of 1,637, which was set Thursday, which broke the previous high of 1,301 posted Wednesday, which topped the previous high of 1,138 set on Tuesday.
Four deaths were reported during the 24-hour period, increasing the state's total to 1,182.
