Newton County reports fifth COVID-19 death, 13 new cases

The Newton County Health Department reported the county's fifth COVID-19 death today.

From the department's news release:

The individual was in their 80s and was admitted to the hospital with signs and symptoms related to COVID-19. The person had chronic medical issues and had been battling COVID-19 for several days before passing.

In a separate news release, the department reported 13 new coronavirus cases, increasing the county total to 812. Three hundred eighty-three cases under isolation and five hospitalized.
