Joplin man accused of shooting, critically injuring woman at 2925 E. 9th taken into custody

A Joplin man who allegedly shot a woman and left her in critical condition was taken into custody Saturday, according to a Joplin Police Department Facebook post.

Tyrell Darone Harbin, 27, is being held without bond, on felony assault and armed criminal action charges.

The allegations against Harbin are described in the probable cause statement:

On 7/18/2020, officers were dispatched to 2925 E. 9th Street in reference to gunshots. Upon arrival, officers located A. D. on the front porch of the residence. Officers then located one gunshot wound to A. D.'s left thigh. Officers observed a heavy arterial bleed from the gunshot wound. A. D. was then transported to Freeman Hospital in critical condition.

A witness was inside the residence at the time of the shooting. The witness identified Tyrell Harbin as the only other person on the bottom floor of the residence with her. The witness advised she ran and hid when she heard the knocking.

The witness then advised she heard multiple gunshots from inside the residence. She heard A. D. state that it was her outside and she was shot.

The witness then went out onto the front porch to assist A. D.

The witness advised as she was assisting A. D., Tyrell advised, "I'm sorry I shot her. Go help your friend."

The witness then advised Tyrell fled on foot.

The alleged crimes committed by Harbin came only two days after he was released from the Jasper County Jail after posting a $2,500 cash bond on a felony weapons charge stemming from a May 13 traffic stop by the Duenweg Police Department.

The Duenweg traffic stop came at a time when Harbin was already awaiting trial on felony armed robbery, burglary and armed criminal action charges in connection with a March 3 home invasion in which he pointed a gun at a Joplin man, then stole his 65-inch television.

All of the felonies allegedly committed by Harbin have taken place in the past four and a half months.
