Neosho attorney to handle Craig Smith case

After the Public Defender's Office rejected former Carl Junction R-1 choir teacher Craig Smith's effort to have taxpayers foot the bill for his defense on stalking and child pornography charges, Smith hired Neosho attorney Jonathan Pierce to handle his case, according to a filing today in Jasper County Circuit Court.

Pierce immediately filed a boilerplate request for disclosure motion asking the Jasper County Prosecuting Attorney's office to turn over all of the information it has on the case.

The next hearing for Smith, 52, is scheduled for 9 a.m. February 5 before Judge Nicole Marie Carlton in the Joplin Courts Building.

Funny how now Craig Smith has found money to hire an attorney, since his Go-Fund-Me Page - Failed.

Crazy how he had the City of Joplin Attorney Peter Edwards represent him in his restraining order. Conflict of interest?
