Golden Corral, Wasab Steakhouse and Sushi fail Joplin Health Department inspections


Golden Corral, 2415 S. Range Line Road, and Wasab Steakhouse & Sushi, 101 N. Range Line Road failed Joplin Health Department inspections today, according to information posted on the department's website.

Golden Corral had one priority violation and four core violations, the report said.

The priority violation was for having potentially hazardous foods in the upright reach-in cooler (breading station) being cold held above 41 degrees.







Core violations were cited for the following:

-A wiping cloth was observed lying on storage racks in the ICS walk-in cooler and on the slicer in the produce preparation room.

-A buildup of ice was observed in the walk-in cooler in the bakery.

-The floor tile grout throughout the kitchen was in disrepair.

-Soil accumulations were present on the ventilation system above the Ecolab conveyor dishwasher.

Wasab Steakhouse & Sushi

Wasab Steakhouse & Sushi had six priority violations and eight core violations, according to the report.

Priority violations were cited for the following:

-Potentially hazardous foods in the salad display cooler were being cold held above 41 degrees.

-Sushi rice maintained at room temperature was not monitored for time as control







-Cooked rice and sushi crab mix were held for longer than 24 hours after preparation and were not provided with date marking

-Debris accumulations were observed on food contact surfaces of the ice chute in the kitchen soda fountain

-The floor drain in the kitchen was holding standing water

-Rodent droppings observed in cabinets, service drink station, dry store and liquor storage areas

Core violations were cited for the following:

-Bowls were left in food storage containers and used as scoops.

-Caulking around the hand sink near the ice machine was porous, not easily cleaned and was accumulating debris.

-The door to the walk-in freezer was damaged.

-The doorknob of the employee restroom had a heavy soil buildup

-The toilet in the middle stall of the women's restroom was out of order.

-FRP in the dish area was damaged







-Lights in the bar and kitchen hoods were not functioning.

-No hand towels were available at the hand sink on the east side of the kitchen.

-Debris accumulations were observed in hood filters and on fire suppression systems of hoods.

Kentucky Fried Chicken, 2601 W. 7th Street
