Carthage R-9 mourns loss of longtime CHS/Fairview Elementary custodian

The Carthage R-9 School District is saddened to announce the passing of Mr. Larry Breedlove, a dedicated member of our staff who faithfully served the district for 14 years.

Mr. Breedlove spent most of his career at Carthage High School before joining Fairview Elementary where he became a beloved presence.

Known for his steady commitment and genuine care for others, Larry approached each day with a servant's heart.

He loved his work, took great pride in caring for the buildings entrusted to him, and built strong relationships with students, teacher, and colleagues alike.

Fairview Elementary Principal Michelle Hensley shared, "Larry was always willing to assist whenever teachers or staff needed support. He loved Fairview and took great pride in preparing the building for the start of each school year. He especially enjoyed walking students across the street at dismissal and took the time to learn each child's name. We will truly miss seeing him."

Larry's impact stretched far beyond custodial duties. His kindness, consistency and friendly presence made him a trusted and familiar figure in the halls of the schools he served. The Carthage R-9 School District is grateful for his many years of dedication and the positive mark he left on our community.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to Larry's family, friends and all who had the privilege of knowing him. The Carthage community will remember him with gratitude and affection.
