Former Shoal Creek Drive treasurer bound over for trial on stealing charge

Kristina Gourley (DOB 1982) was bound over for trial on a stealing charge following a preliminary hearing in Newton County Circuit Court today.

Gourley's arraignment in the trial division is scheduled for 9 a.m. January 12.

Gourley, who was the treasurer of Shoal Creek Drive Village, allegedly stole $27,075. Gourley also served as treasurer of the Stapleton Elementary PTO, but the charges against her do not include anything she did in that position.

As I understand, she stole $ from Stapleton PTO, but paid it back with $ she stole from Shoal Creek Village. The PTO didn’t think it was strange that they received a check from Shoal Creek Village. 😏

Whatever happened to the PTO treasurer, Katy Kelley, that stole over 20k from a Joplin school? Slap on the wrist because she is/was a paralegal? Seems like that one has slipped under the rug.

They should sue to recover the money!

No idea what happened to any Oklahoma charges. Can't find anything.

"A stealing charge against a former Royal Heights Elementary PTO treasurer who embezzled $26,268 from the organization was dismissed November 29 as part of a plea agreement with the Jasper County Prosecuting Attorney's office.

Katy Kelley, Joplin, pleaded guilty to the remaining charge, fraudulent use of a credit device, a misdemeanor, was given a suspended sentence and was placed on unsupervised probation for two years.

Conditions of the probation include paying $146.50 in court costs and not drinking within six hours of driving a vehicle"

The PTO probably thought they were lucky to get their money back...who has time to ask questions...just deposit that check ASAP!
