Competition for U. S. Senate appears unlikely until general election

As usual, our political parties are doing their best to make sure voters have no choices in the primaries.

Dave Catanese at KY3 Political Notebook reports Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder and former U. S. Senator Jim Talent will endorse Seventh District Congressman's Roy Blunt's candidacy Saturday.

We have already seen nearly everyone else in the GOP fall into line, even former Sen. John Danforth, who earlier had touted another candidate.

And don't look for any choice being offered by the Democratic party either. Secretary of State Robin Carnahan was anointed almost before the process started.

Though this enables the parties to save money for the general campaign, this discouraging of potential opponents is one reason why many people feel so disconnected from government.
