Critics of Speaker of the House Ron Richard, R-Joplin, might want to read Pitch Weekly's in-depth examination of how health care reform failed during the recently-completed legislative session.
Any chance the state had of improving the system fell victim to a cabal of Republican legislators, under the leadership of Budget Chairman Allen Icet, R-Wildwood. And remember, Icet was Richard's opponent in the race for speaker. Icet could have become the most powerful man in the House. (Or as Ron Richard puts it, the most powerful man in the state.):
