Carthage teen's final Facebook post: Til He returns or calls me home, here in the power of Christ I live

The last Facebook post of 17-year-old Ozark Christian College student Natalia Puebla, one of the victims in last Sunday night's tornado, offered a perfect example of the way she lived her all-too-short life:

"No guilt in life, no fear of death-this is the power of Christ in me. From life's first cry til final breath, Jesus commands my destiny. No power of hell, no scheme of man, could ever pluck me from His hand. Til He returns or calls me home, here in the power of Christ I live."

A double service for Natalia and her aunt, Sandra Thomas, will be held Saturday. Their obituaries, from the Ulmer Funeral Home website, are printed below:

Natalia Puebla, 17, of Carthage passed away on Sunday, May 22, 2011. She was born on July 26, 1993 in Joplin; MO. Natalia was the daughter of Carey and Latina Puebla. She was a student of Ozark Christian College and had just completed her first year. Natalia was loved by her piano students, church family and college friends. She was a member of the Joplin Full Gospel Church.


Natalia is survived by her parents, two brothers, Joshua and Jacob of Springfield, and one sister Angela (Elliott) Pinkham of Webb City, MO., four nieces Kaylene, Kristin, Kelly, and Kara, Uncle Jesse & Pam of Carthage, Mo. Natalia is preceded by Paternal Grandparents, Jesus Puebla and Marjorie Scoville, she is also survived by two aunts, Shelly Simon of Davenport, Iowa and Ramona Lacy of Farmington, IL.

A double Service will be at Grace Pointe Assembly, at 2:00 p.m., May 28, 2011. No Visitation. Burial in Fullerton Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Ulmer Funeral Home.

Sandra Thomas, 55, of Carthage passed away on Sunday, May 22, 2011. She was born on July 30, 1955 in Berryville, AR. She was the daughter of Alvin and Betty Thomas. Sandra was an employee of Justin Books for the past 20 years. She was a graduate of the Carthage High School in 1974. Sandra was a member of the Joplin Full Gospel Church where she volunteered in the nursery. Sandra is survived by her parents and one sister Latina Puebla.


A double Service will be at Grace Pointe Assembly, at 2:00 p.m., May 28, 2011. No Visitation. Burial in Fullerton Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Ulmer Funeral Home.
