People upset by license requirements

I was beginning to wonder if my anger at these new license requirements was somewhat irrational and if I was the only one who was really upset about this.
Judging from the responses on the Joplin Globe's website to its story about the tons of paperwork you have to provide just to prove you are who you say you are and get a driver's license, the government may be in for an uprising.
This is one of those times that people need to start writing and calling their elected officials, over and over again. If we let this one get through, it won't be long before they are saying this wasn't quite enough and we need to do more.
There is not one person who doesn't want to feel safe, whether it be from identity thieves or terrorists, but this is not the way to do it. Identity thieves and terrorists are going to go right on doing what they have been doing. The only people who will be harmed by this are law-abiding citizens.
And once again I will point out that the people who are making these rules and regulations are not the people who are going to be inconvenienced by them. The director of the Department of Revenue and Governor Matt Blunt are not going to have to wait in line to renew their driver's licenses.

Wait until people have to renew their driver's licenses and then there will be an up rise. Many baby boomers have never actually seen their state issued birth certificate but have been getting by on the one issued by the hospital upon their birth.
