Neosho Daily News columnist John Ford takes on the cowardly members of the Westboro Baptist Church, the group has the temerity to protest at funerals of those who have died in Iraq on the flimsy pretext that the U. S. has caved in to the homosexual lobby.
Fortunately, the cowards did not show up in McDonald County Saturday for the funeral of Chris Marion, though they had said they would despite a new Missouri law that bans such behavior.
Whatever one might think about the legality of that law (and I question if it is going to stand without some modification), the people who proposed it had their hearts in the right place.
John Ford's column puts these people in their place, which judging from their normal behavior, is under a rock.
And again, thanks to the Daily, the Globe, and the rest of the local media who correctly emphasized the life and death of Chris Marion in their coverage over the weekend and played the non-protest as either a sidebar or at the end of the article.
(I almost hate to put in the link since the Daily's archives system guarantees the link will be outdated in just a few days.)
