Over the past three months, Claire McCaskill has attempted to undergo an ‘extreme makeover’ from Barack Obama-rubberstamp to fiscal hawk. Her disingenuous newfound conservatism was on full display today when she joined seven Republicans in proposing spending cuts over the next 10 years.
But McCaskill’s moderate masquerade has left Missourians scratching their heads.
“Where were Claire McCaskill’s concerns about government spending when she helped pass Barack Obama’s waste-laden $787 billion stimulus bill? Where were her concerns about spending when she cast the deciding vote for Obamacare, which independent experts now say will not hold down costs? Where were her concerns when she voted for bailout after bailout?” asked Lloyd Smith, Executive Director of the Missouri Republican Party. “Make no mistake about it: McCaskill’s newfound concern over spending is nothing more than an election cycle ploy meant to distract Missourians from her record of excessive spending.”
McCaskill’s newfound fiscal moderation began immediately after the November 2010 elections, which saw massive Republican gains across the country and especially in Missouri. Suddenly, she changed her tune on the health care law’s individual mandate and the profligate spending of the past two years.
But Missourians are rightfully skeptical about her frugality, especially considering that McCaskill has been one of the most vocal and ardent supporters of Barack Obama’s reckless agenda. She helped Obama spend colossal amounts of money and rack up record amounts of debt as one of the most vocal supporters of the wasteful $787 billion stimulus bill and the unconstitutional Obamacare, among others. Over the past two years, Claire McCaskill has stood with Barack Obama every step of the way as they passed massive bills and racked up record deficits.
“Claire McCaskill is like an unscrupulous mechanic who breaks your car’s engine and then offers to fix it at an inflated price,” said Smith.

GOP spokesman compares Claire McCaskill to crooked auto mechanic
It's not exactly a model for chivalry, but in a news release issued moments ago, Lloyd Smith, Missouri GOP executive director, compared Sen. Claire McCaskill, D-Mo. to a crooked auto mechanic. From the release:
