The Facebook portion of Sen. Jane Cunningham's SB 54 will not go into effect Sunday as scheduled.
A Cole County Circuit Court Judge issued an injunction against the law today.
Missouri State Teachers Association (MSTA) sought the injunction saying the bill, which prohibits teachers and students from communicating through social networking sites and some experts have said it also includes texting, phone calls, and e-mail, was a violation of the teachers' and students' First Amendment rights and was also unfairly targeting teachers.
Gov. Jay Nixon has said that SB 54 will be added to the items for the legislature to work on when it is called back into session next month.
