SW Mo Democrats to rock the vote on Joplin's Third Thursday

(From Southwest Missouri Democrats)

Southwest Missouri Democrats will be "Rocking the Vote" on Third Thursday on October 16th. This event has multiple sponsors and will be seen in several downtown locations. Many of our volunteers and sponsors will be wearing "safety orange" "Rocking the Vote" T-shirts for the event. The event will kick off in conjunction with the Third Thursday activities at 5:30 p.m. on Main Street in Joplin.

Our booth will feature Voter Registration information and GOTV (Get Out the Vote) information. High School Young Democrats from area high schools will be on hand with a "pin the tail on the donkey" game.

Our sponsors for this event include:
Downtown Joplin Establishments--JB's Piano Bar, Rocco's Palace Pizza, Blackthorn Pizza and Pub, and Sugar Creek Designs.

Sugar Creek Designs donated our "safety orange" T-Shirts for "Rocking the Vote".

Jaynie Erwin, the owner who is a Republican, explains, "I want to work with the Democrats and Downtown Joplin businesses to Rock the Vote because I feel all citizens should vote in every Presidential, Midterm, and City election."

There will be live music at JB's Piano Bar. This FREE show will be featuring Joplin's own THE TOOs and all the way from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Trapper Schoepp & The Shades.

Blackthorn Pizza and Pub is featuring the bands: Creature and Thumper, and artist Rae Fizgerald.

Rocco's Palace Pizza and Southwest Missouri Democrats are sponsoring the program on the North Stage. Rich Roberts Jazz Classics will be providing musical entertainment.

The following Democratic candidates will also speak on the North Stage about the importance of voting:

- Jim Evans (D), candidate for the 7th Congressional District
- Charles (Hugh) Shields (D), candidate for the Missouri House 161st District
- Michael Jarrett (D), candidate for the Missouri House 163rd District
