Joplin Police Department named Dustin Moyer detective of the year, making the announcement in a Facebook post Thursday.
"(Moyer) has established himself as a hard working, thorough detective who excels at investigating all aspects of crime," Chief Sloan Rowland said.
In 2019, Moyer recovered approximately $100,000 worth of stolen property, completed 13 search warrants and assisted on 37 search warrants and obtained 37 confessions, according to the post.
"While working SIU (Special Investigative Unit) in June 2019, Moyer was able to coordinate a stop on a vehicle that led to the recovery of 127 grams of meth and over $16,000 in cash. That arrest ultimately led to federal indictments against the offender."
In October, Moyer made arrests and obtained charges on several Joplin teenagers who were conducting an armed robbery spree.
"Detective Moyer is an asset to the Joplin Police Department and the Investigation Bureau," Rowland said.
