Joplin felon faces federal weapons charge

A Joplin man was charged in U. S. District Court today with being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Tanner Enochs, 29, was initially arrested May 17 by the Joplin Police Department following a pursuit that began with Enochs on a motorcycle and later continued on foot until he was captured with a stolen gun in a holster.

From the probable cause affidavit:

On May 17, 2023, Joplin Police Officer Chandler Connell established surveillance of 1107 East North Street, Joplin, Jasper County, within the Western District of Missouri, in an effort to apprehend TANNER ENOCHS for an outstanding arrest warrant for second degree burglary.

While on surveillance, the officer observed a male he believed to be ENOCHS leaving the residence on a motorcycle. Officer Connell followed the motorcycle to a stop sign at the intersection of East Broadway and High Avenue, where he was able to positively identify ENOCHS.

Officer Connell then activated his emergency lights in an attempt to stop ENOCHS. ENOCHS disregarded the officer’s effort to conduct a traffic stop and accelerated away from the officer. ENOCHS turned southbound onto Highland Avenue.

As the officer turned onto Highland Avenue in pursuit, the motorcycle ENOCHS had been operating was lying in the middle of the road on its side. ENOCHS was observed running westbound on foot between houses. The officer exited his patrol car and gave chase while issuing verbal commands to stop.

ENOCHS tripped and fell allowing Officer Connell to catch up to him. ENOCHS was taken into custody without further incident. After ENOCHS was in custody, he was told to roll on his side so that the officer could search his person.

ENOCHS stated, “I have a gun in my waistband.”

A stolen Glock Model 43, bearing serial number ADVY414, was located in a black holster affixed to ENOCHS’ body.

I’m glad to see this. The Federal system takes felons with guns seriously, and it results in prison time.
When it goes the the Jasper County Court, a plea deal almost aways results in dropping the gun charge to plea to a lesser charge.

Glad to see this in a federal court. This could have been another officer being shot and killed.

^^^^^ I agree with the last comment. I know him personally too and he is a great person... miss u very much, Tanner Enoch. He didn't deserve this... no matter how many of u people that don't even know him get on here and say he does... u didn't know him... I bet he too would have loved to grow up with great parents all the fancy things they ever wanted, maybe then though he would have grown up to be just like u unfortunately... silver spoon fed judgemental pricks.
