Carterville man charged with making terrorist threat following bomb scare at Webb City apartment complex

A warrant was issued today for the arrest of a Carterville man charged with making a terrorist threat at the Cardinal Towers apartment complex in Webb City Monday.

According to the probable cause statement, Webb City police officers were called to Cardinal Towers to investigate a report that Dalton J. Stanley (DOB 1994) was trespassing.

Upon arrival, several witnesses and tenants of the multi-story residential building reported that Mr. Stanley made threats before he fled on foot. Several witnesses gave independent statements that Mr. Stanley said he "had something hidden in the building that would take care of everyone," leaving all witnesses in fear that he had planted a bomb or explosive in the building.

Word spread quickly about the threats, according to the probable cause statement, and tenants were leaving the area in a panic.

Bond was set at $5,000 surety with the condition that Stanley not come within 500 yards of 324 N. Tom where the apartment complex is located.
