The attorney for Coy James Akin, 26, filed a motion for continuance saying he is "unavailable" Monday.
The charging information filed for the case indicates the Joplin Police Department arrested Akin for "repeatedly beating the child with his hands and a wooden spoon."
Akin was released on his own recognizance.

For the two of you who have left comments it doesn't matter how many cases Coy has on Casenet, none of those are of any relivance to the said case this article is referring too. Since you took personal time into looking up Coys history on Casenet, please tell me where you see any other charges of this nature... I'll wait, oh that's right you don't because there aren't any... Also if you had actually read through any of those things you'd see hes been down the incarcerated road already so ur opening comment isn't even relevant.
