A Carthage man who allegedly assaulted his girlfriend after she addressed him about his talking to other girls on Snapchat was charged with third degree domestic assault, a felony.
Bond for Tyler Vance Gricks (DOB 1995) was set at $7,500 surety or $1,000 cash, with the stipulations that he not go anywhere near the woman and not possess or drink alcohol. Gricks has posted bond, according to online Jasper County Circuit Court records.
According to the probable cause statement, when Carthage Police arrived the woman had "obvious bruising and swelling around both eyes, as well as bruising on her right leg, as well as a small laceration on the right leg."
The woman told officers Gricks took her phone and car keys and she fled to a neighbor's house to call for help once Gricks fell asleep.
Gricks told officers "he did not know how (she) sustained the injuries," and suggested she might have fallen.
The probable cause statement notes that Gricks "has been charged several times with domestic assault over the past nine years the most recent being in 2022."
Gricks' arraignment is scheduled for 9 a.m. October 18 before Judge Joseph Hensley.
