Jill Carter, fellow senators, speak out against New Mexico order banning open, concealed carry of firearms

(From Sen. Jill Carter, R-Granby)

Senator Jill Carter, R-Granby, and other Missouri Senators are voicing their opposition to an executive order issued by New Mexico’s governor, temporarily banning open and concealed carry of firearms in Albuquerque.

Declaring a public health emergency, New Mexico’s governor issued a 30-day ban on carrying firearms, even for law-abiding concealed carry permit holders, in public areas or state property in Albuquerque and Bernalillo.

“This clearly violates the United States Constitution and is a prime example of government overreach. This infringement of Second Amendment rights limits the ability of families, communities, and citizens to defend themselves,” said Sen. Carter. “Constitutional rights are fundamental and are not to be done away with under the guise of emergency powers. Tyrannical actions, like these from Governor Grisham, are the reason we have the Second Amendment in the first place. That is why we will continue to fight relentlessly to defend gun rights here in Missouri.”

Senator Carter also added that this issue is not limited to other states, but that Missourians’ gun rights are under attack through the initiative petition process.

“We will continue fighting for initiative petition reform that protects the voice of Missourians’ and their Second Amendment rights. We must be firm in our commitment to not only speak up when we see our constitutionally guaranteed rights being trampled, but to do all we can to protect our laws from special interest groups wanting to take advantage of the current system,” Sen. Carter said.

“Reforming the initiative petition process from a 50-percent plus 1 standard to a concurrent majority ratification is key to protecting our right to keep and bear arms.”

Joining Sen. Carter in opposition to the New Mexico governor’s decision to suspend open and concealed carry of firearms are Sen. Rick Brattin, R-Harrisonville; Sen. Bill Eigel, R-Weldon Springs; Sen. Denny Hoskins, R-Warrensburg; Sen. Andrew Koenig, R-Manchester; Sen. Mike Moon, R-Ash Grove; and Sen. Nick Schroer, R-St. Charles.

I can't believe these ---MAGA RETHUGLICANS--- won't support open carry for their brave ---MANGO-MULLET MAN--- fighters in Ukraine.

(Still working on my turner report comment section writing style. How did I do?)

Interesting 8:34. This is likely referencing a comment that for some reason was never posted. I wonder how that works ? Facebook, Twitter and Google would be proud !

WTH 834. Gonna have to sleep on your entry and try again tomorrow. I agree with the governor, you maga nuts believe the right to carry is the right to slaughter one another. Suicide and homicide by gunfire are leading causes of death in our country and the pubs keep on endorsing their 2nd amendment bullshit rights.

Hey 147, 50000 deaths by gunfire is ok to you? If so, you're as much an abomination as the orange bastard and your republican kind that killed off over a million because you deplorables believed covid was a joke. You also covet your guns more than the lives of innocent adults and children as evidenced by the number of mass shootings at soft targets like schools and malls with military grade automatic weapons that your kind won't regulate. Keep worshipping your orange bastard. He controls you and your kind the same way jim Jones, David karesh, hitler, and others, manipulated their minions into believing and dying by their lies. Pity you loser.

7:07, That is a completely feeble argument. How many drunk driving deaths could be prevented if we just banned vehicles ? How many soldier lives could be saved if we stopped shipping money to Ukraine or everywhere else in the world to fund senseless wars? How many deaths from fentanyl could be prevented if we just stopped the unabated flow of drugs by securing the border ? And how much more intelligent would we sound if we could piece together a sensible argument that didn't rely on personal attacks because someone holds a different belief than you and was based on the facts? Your drunken queen Nancy Pelosi taught us all, very openly in fact, about projection. Project much ?

Here's your argument 748, let's start with how much the NRA donated to the orange abomination party to keep weapons of war on the streets? The NRA owns all of you. Compare to NRA donations to dems who want smart regulation. Look at the numbers and then we'll talk. Otherwise, you're argument is nothing more but of the same old republican BS.

Guns are not dangerous, criminals and mentally unstable people are.

Yep, you're full of the same old republican bull sht 847. You can't make an argument about guns because you have no moral compass, (I hope you know what that means) and no compassion to anyone not white, stupid, and male. Not wasting my time on you.

I love how you Dems always bring race into it.
How compassionate are you Dems,
You love killing babies.
Dems embrace everything evil, abortion, mutilating children,
The alphabet club etc.
Oh I may be dumb but I do know what bathroom to use, I’m not confused like you.
