The Jasper County Prosecuting Attorney's office filed a felony child abuse charge against Cory Denard Carroll, 43, who allegedly assaulted a 17-year-old girl Monday.
The alleged crime was described in the probable cause statement.
On 06/17/2024 at approximately 20:33 hours, in the County of Jasper Missouri, City of Joplin, Cory Carroll committed the crime of abuse or neglect of a child, by physically assaulting a seventeen-year-old female by hitting her with an open hand and head butting her causing minor physical injuries.
V1 stated Mr. Carroll physically assaulted her when while in an argument about {her} cheating on him. {She} stated Mr. Carroll wouldn’t let her leave the bedroom and took her phone before leaving. Mr. Carroll was not on scene upon arrival.
