Chris Leiter, manager of For-All Bible Center at Northpark Mall in Joplin, will be among the speakers this week at the annual International Christian Retail Show at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver, according to today's Denver Post.
Christian retailers are facing a slump in their sales, the article notes, but not because of any lack of consumer interest in their products, according to the article. Seeing that businesses specializing in Christian goods are bringing in $4.34 billion annually, retail giant Wal-Mart has begun eyeing those profits and has increased its Christian offerings.
To compete, Leiter told The Post, store owners should mark down best-selling books such as Rick Warren's "The Purpose-Driven Life," and "hold special promotions and tie-ins with popular titles and events."
"The key to it all is understanding the needs of the customer and custom-designing a program that fits customer needs," Leiter told The Post.
