As I watched KODE and KSNF's coverage of Governor Matt Blunt's signing of jobs legislation in Joplin earlier today, I wondered why both Democratic and Republican governors keep up this costly tradition of traveling all over and conducting ceremonial signings of bills, sometimes at as many as eight to 10 locations, in every corner of the state.
If our state's financial condition is truly as bad as everyone says it is, wouldn't it make more sense for the governor to just stay in Jefferson City and sign the bills?
