Ron Davis' Chatter blog features a
post today about a
report issued by The Center for Media and Democracy that claims a number of stations across the U. S., including KFJX, the Joplin Fox affiliate, have aired VNRs (video news releases), advertising that is disguised as news.

Randy, you buried the lede again. The real story is Joplin has a local Fox affiliate doing news. Who knew? Certainly not the people at Nielsen.
Another great moment in broadcast journalism history nonetheless.
I don't know if my opinions mean anything, but isn't all of TV journalism just advertising in news clothing? I mean, you have "Hair and nails provided by Bimbo salon," and "Ms. What'sherface's wardrobe provided by Skanks." Look at all of the "medical reporting" which tells all about the latest wonder drug which has more side effects than benefits.
People, if you want journalism, pick up a paper or, if you don't like inky hands, go on-line or listen to NPR. TV is entertainment and not really all that entertaining.
Aw, I'm running low on whiskey and beer. Better make a run. It's boilermaker night!!!
5 tv stations in this market? Since when does Miami, OK have their own station?
