In her column today, the Springfield News-Leader's Sarah Overstreet addresses Rep. Kevin Wilson's bill to require the installation of sprinkler systems at group homes:
"Officials said, 'We've gotta do something to make people safer,' at the time" of the other deadly Missouri fires, Wilson says. "But fast forward 50 years and 11 people died. I sure the heck don't want to be sitting there sometime and say I didn't do everything I could."
Wilson, of course, was referring to the incident that has triggered his bill, and other similar legislation, the November 2006 fire at the Anderson Guest House that killed 11 people.
