Mississippi University for Women President Claudia Limbert announced she will retire in June, according to the Clarion-Ledger in Jackson:
Limbert, a native of Joplin, Mo., has led MUW since 2002. She is the second female to hold the president's post at the university, which began as a female institution but began accepting male students after a long legal battle in 1982.
Limbert said she made her decision to leave with input from her family, which includes four adult children.
Before coming to Mississippi, she served as campus executive officer at Penn State University — Dubois. Limbert said she likely will move back to Pennsylvania to be closer to family after her contract expires at the end of the school year.
