Debate over the issue lasted more than an hour before the Senate took the vote.
Some suggested postponing the vote, but they were met with opposition from Chelf.
"I am of the opinion that we have come this far, [we must] proceed," Chelf said before the Senate voted.

Dr. Speck, for all his grand-standing (He evidently handed out a long written response to the no-confidence report just minutes before the senate were to vote.)-- for all that, all he really needs to DO is to restore confidence!
Describe his vision, if he has one. Demonstrate competence to manage a $70 million budget intelligently, prudently and fairly. Manage PEOPLE as though they, and not he, taught the students, raised the funds, coached the athletes, and did the work of the University.
But he has failed to do anything like that in the many weeks since this crisis began. He has hunkered down and listened to his personal attorney and muse.
Speaking of muse, does the name Nero ring a bell?
