Nodler, Goodman stumble in fundraising; Billy Long continues to rake in the big bucks

Springfield auctioneer Billy Long is far ahead of his chief competitors, confounding the experts who expected the Seventh District Congressional race to be a showdown between senators Gary Nodler of Joplin and jack Goodman of Mount Vernon.

I have been saying it for quite a while and I will continue to say it- Billy Long is the man to beat for the GOP nomination, and unless things change drastically in the next few months, it is going to narrow down to Long and one chief opponent, and barring any unforeseen circumstances, that competitor will most likely be Goodman. Though Nodler is second place right now for money on hand, Nodler has already received primary and general election maximum contributions from most of his major supporters.

The fundraising is broken down by Dave Catanese at the KY3 Political Notebook:

Billy Long now has more cash on hand than his three top challengers COMBINED.

Long has $405,162, compared to $144,042 for Nodler, $137,544 for Goodman, and $11,144 for Greene County Prosecuting Attorney Darrell Moore.

Randy, Don't you ever get tired of being wrong? If you count Nodler's major Doners, those contibuting more than $1000 only 11% of those have given general election contributions to Nodler. Long on the other hand has recieved general election contributions from 23% of his major doners. Nodler has far more capacity to get more contributions from major doners than does Long. Almost $40,000 of Long's contributions from individuals cannot be used in this primary. For Nodler the amount from individuals that cannot be used in the primary is only $14,000. Have you ever tried checking facts before making such clearly wrong comments?

Nodler hasn't shown anyone anything. I will repeat- the people who are genuine Nodler supporters and have money have for the most part maxed out on contributions. If he is counting on others, they are likely of the fair weather variety and will contribute to whomever looks like a winner.

This is also true of the Long supporters. Most are familiar names. The reality is that your assertion is refuted by the facts, this is another case of what you wish, not what is true. Nodler has raised about $180,000 in four months, Long a little over $300,000 (not counting self-funding) in 8 months. I know you find facts too bothersome to work with. Why don't you answer the numbers? Oh I know, you don't have an answer.

If Nodler is so "loved" we didn't he have any people with him in the Maple Leaf parade today. This is his home turf and still couldn't get any volunteers. Long had some...Goodman had several.

Nodler had about 20 volunteers(far more than either other candidate) walking with him in the parade handing out candy and stickers. You must not have been there.

Nodler should thank the person that commented that he had no volunteers walking with him in the parade. There were about 40 to 50 thousand people watching. They all know that Nodler had more volunteers there wearing Nodler shirts than Goodman (who came in second) and Long (who had only a couple). This anonymous comment just proves that the anti-Nodler comments on here come from people who are blind to the truth. You see there were thousands of witnesses this time. It isn't like making up a lie about something in a theater lobby that no one saw. Thousands of people saw this. Anti-Nodler folks lie plain and simple and now it is clear for all to see!
