Dieckhaus explains bill to eliminate teacher tenure

In the accompanying video, House Education Committee Chairman Scott Dieckhaus, R-Washington,is interviewed about HB 628, which would eliminate teacher tenure and stop giving teachers pay increases based on experience and advanced degrees. In the video, Dieckhaus explains that all good teachers favor his plan or can see merit to it once he explains it to them, and indicates that the opposition to it is coming from bad teachers.

Dieckhaus, by the way, is a former public schoolteacher, having served in the trenches for four years, not long enough to qualify for tenure.
