The House Republican leader is the first to push for spending cuts related to the disaster that has already claimed over 100 lives. Democrats slammed the Republican leader, saying it amounted to “ransom.”

Cantor: No money for Joplin tornado relief unless spending cuts are made
If there was ever any doubt about House Minority Leader Eric Cantor's belief that any federal relief for Joplin tornado victims has to be accompanied by spending cuts, he removed it Tuesday:

Any truth to the stories about sewer problems? I'm hearing that people can't use their toilets and that raw sewage is all around in North Joplin/Royal Heights.
The uprooted trees have distroyed much of the underground infrastructure including water lines. Many of the needed motels did not have potable water as of Tuesday night, I've been told.
