Akin on Obama budget: Another year, another almost trillion dollar deficit

(From Congressman Todd Akin, candidate for U. S. Senate)

Today Congressman Todd Akin (R-MO), a member of the Budget Committee and the Armed Services Committee, responded to the fiscal year 2013 budget proposed by President Obama. Akin released the following statement:

“With this budget, President Obama continues his reckless deficit spending – buying political favor today by borrowing from future generations. Once again, the President has chosen the politically expedient course, rather than trying to deal with our out-of-control auto-pilot spending programs in a responsible fashion. The President was elected on promises of hope and change, but the only change we have seen is radically increased deficit spending. Another year, another almost trillion dollar deficit from President Obama.

“Simultaneously, the President is walking away from one of the primary jobs of the federal government: keeping our country secure. While President Obama may say nice things, actions speak louder than words. The President talks about focusing on Asia while cutting Navy shipbuilding by 25%. The President talks about a more flexible military while cutting about a hundred airlift aircraft. The President talks about taking care of veterans, while putting 100,000 soldiers and marines on the unemployment line. The President talks about working with our allies while cutting missile defenses that protect our troops and our allies.

“The bottom line is that this is another failed budget. Not only does it include all kinds of bad decisions, it fails to address the fundamental problem facing our nation of rapidly growing auto-pilot spending programs. We must address that problem if we want to give our children a hopeful future.”

Akin has proven to be a shallow thinking, rubber stamping burden on the state. Wake up and vote him out.
