Tornado sirens sound in Joplin

Just two days shy of the two-year anniversary of the Joplin Tornado and the sirens are sounding once again.

Jasper and Newton counties are under tornado warning until 7:15 p.m.

At the moment, the heavy rains are in Seneca in Newton County, but heading up 43 toward Joplin.

COUNTIES UNTIL 715 PM CDT...

AT 643 PM CDT...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM CAPABLE OF PRODUCING A TORNADO
WAS LOCATED NEAR SENECA...AND MOVING NORTHEAST AT 60 MPH.

HAZARD...DEVELOPING TORNADO.

SOURCE...RADAR INDICATED ROTATION.

IMPACT...MOBILE HOMES WILL BE HEAVILY DAMAGED OR DESTROYED.
         SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE TO ROOFS...WINDOWS AND VEHICLES WILL
         OCCUR. FLYING DEBRIS WILL BE DEADLY TO PEOPLE AND ANIMALS.
         EXTENSIVE TREE DAMAGE IS LIKELY.

AIRPORT DRIVE...CARTERVILLE...CARTHAGE...DIAMOND...DUENWEG...
DUQUESNE...GRANBY...IRON GATES...JOPLIN...LEAWOOD...NEOSHO...
SAGINAW...SENECA...SHOAL CREEK DRIVE...SILVER CREEK AND WEBB CITY.

INTERSTATE 44 BETWEEN MILE MARKERS 1 AND 26 WILL ALSO BE IMPACTED BY
THIS DANGEROUS STORM.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

TAKE COVER NOW. MOVE TO AN INTERIOR ROOM ON THE LOWEST FLOOR OF A
STURDY BUILDING. AVOID WINDOWS. IF IN A MOBILE HOME...A VEHICLE OR
OUTDOORS...MOVE TO THE CLOSEST SUBSTANTIAL SHELTER AND PROTECT
YOURSELF FROM FLYING DEBRIS.

THIS LINE OF THUNDERSTORMS IS CAPABLE OF PRODUCING TORNADOES AND
WIDESPREAD SIGNIFICANT WIND DAMAGE. DO NOT WAIT TO SEE OR HEAR THE
TORNADO. FOR YOUR PROTECTION MOVE TO AN INTERIOR ROOM ON THE LOWEST
FLOOR OF YOUR HOME OR BUSINESS.

FOR SOUTHEAST KANSAS AND SOUTHERN MISSOURI.
