Bourne waives arraignment, preliminary hearing set for Sept. 9

Accused child-killer Bobby Don Bourne, 34, Lockwood, waived his arraignment this afternoon in Barton County Circuit Court.

The preliminary hearing for Bourne, who is charged with first degree murder, forcible rape, statutory rape, and kidnapping in connection with the Aug. 19 death of 12-year-old Adriaunna Horton of Golden City, has been scheduled for 1 p.m. September 9.

According to online court records, Judge Charles Curless ordered law enforcement not to destroy any evidence and issued another order permitting Bourne's lawyer, public defender Joseph Zuzul to be able to communicate with his client at any time during business hours as long as reasonable notice is given.

The public defender filed motion noting his client's invocation of his right against self-incrimination and right to counsel.

Bourne is being held in the Jasper County Jail in Carthage in lieu of $2 million bond.
