THE FLASH FLOOD WATCH CONTINUES FOR * PORTIONS OF SOUTHEAST KANSAS AND MISSOURI...INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING AREAS...IN SOUTHEAST KANSAS...BOURBON...CHEROKEE AND CRAWFORD. IN MISSOURI...BARRY...BARTON...CHRISTIAN... DOUGLAS...HOWELL...JASPER...LAWRENCE...MCDONALD...NEWTON... OREGON...OZARK...STONE AND TANEY. * THROUGH TUESDAY EVENING * A COLD FRONT WILL SAG SOUTH THROUGH THE AREA TONIGHT AND EARLY TUESDAY. THE FOCUS FOR WIDESPREAD RAINFALL WILL GRADUALLY SHIFT TO THE SOUTH OF THE REGION BY LATE TUESDAY. THE BEST CHANCES FOR RAIN INTO TUESDAY WILL BE ACROSS EXTREME SOUTHEASTERN KANSAS AND FAR SOUTHERN MISSOURI. AN ADDITIONAL INCH OF RAINFALL WILL BE POSSIBLE...WITH LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS POSSIBLE. * TORRENTIAL RAINFALL RATES WILL BE POSSIBLE WITH ANY THUNDERSTORMS WHICH WILL QUICKLY LEAD TO FLASH FLOODING OF STREAMS...LOW LYING OR POOR DRAINAGE AREAS...AND LOW WATER CROSSINGS. BECAUSE OF HIGH WATER TABLES AND SATURATED SOILS...LOCATIONS THAT NORMALLY DO NOT FLOOD WILL BE AT RISK FOR FLOODING. AREAS THAT HAVE RECEIVED EXCESSIVE RAINFALL AND FLOODING THE PAST FEW DAYS ARE AT PARTICULAR RISK FOR FLASH FLOODING. THOSE CAMPING OR FLOATING ON AREA RIVERS SHOULD BE ALERT FOR RISING WATER LEVELS. THOSE TRAVELING SHOULD BE ALERT FOR FLOODED ROADS AND LOW WATER CROSSINGS. ADDITIONAL RISES AND FLOODING MAY DEVELOP ON MAIN STEM RIVERS INCLUDING THE ELK RIVER. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A FLASH FLOOD WATCH MEANS THAT CONDITIONS MAY DEVELOP THAT LEAD TO FLASH FLOODING. FLASH FLOODING IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. YOU SHOULD MONITOR LATER FORECASTS AND BE PREPARED TO TAKE ACTION SHOULD FLASH FLOOD WARNINGS BE ISSUED.
