Top five reasons Billy Long voted against coronavirus relief package

Only 40 Congressmen, all Republicans, voted against the coronavirus relief package Friday night, with only two of them in Missouri's delegation.

One of the two who cast "no" votes on the legislation, which will provide guaranteed 14-day sick leave, free virus testing for those who do not have insurance, added unemployment benefits and additional funds for food and Medicaid, was Eighth District Congressman Jason Smith.

The other was our own Congressman Billy Long.

Don't be so quick to judge him. He had his reasons.

Here are the top five reasons Billy Long voted against the coronavirus relief package:

1. I am still holding out for a bailout for the casino industry. Nothing is sadder than a poker dealer on Skid Row.

2. Maybe now Jim Jordan and Louie Gohmert will invite me to their parties. (Both of them voted against it.)

3. Maybe with this vote, only 65 percent of Seventh District residents will vote for me in November and I can beat the spread.

2. I am fed up with all of this bipartisanship.

1. If we give the people this, next thing you know they're going to want health care.

(Note: I have seen some people sharing some of the most horrific insults about politicians and attempting to disguise it as satire. This is real satire.)
