(From Southern News Service)

Nearly 70 applications have been received as the search continues for the next president of Missouri Southern State University.

The university’s Board of Governors received an update on the search during a closed-session conference call on Thursday afternoon. The Presidential Search Advisory Committee provided board members with a list of recommended semifinalists for the position.

Members of the Advisory Search Committee have been working remotely due to the COVID-19 pandemic via digital communications and telephonic conferencing.

However, work is progressing, said Alison Hershewe, vice chair of the Board of Governors and chair of the search committee.

“We received nearly 70 applicants, and the Board is extremely pleased with the field of semi-finalists,” she said.

The Advisory Search Committee plans to begin interviewing semi-finalist candidates mid-April.

The open session of the board’s meeting will be aired at 6 p.m. today and 9 p.m. Sunday, March 29, on KGCS (broadcast channel 21 and on regional cable television systems).
