A Lamar man faces a misdemeanor animal abuse charge after allegedly shooting and killing his girlfriend's horse, according to a probable cause statement filed today in Barton County Circuit Court.
A criminal summons has been issued for Curtis Jeffrey Wisener (DOB 1995) with an initial appearance scheduled for 9 a.m. November 5.
The alleged shooting spree occurred at a rural Lamar residence October 15, 2023, according to the probable cause statement:
Upon arrival, I made contact with Curtis Jeffrey Wisener. Wisener stated he had been living at the residence, off and on, and was the boyfriend of the female.Wisener stated he came over and after a verbal argument, Wisner shot {the woman's} car, the riding lawn mower, then walked through the barn, into the pasture, and shot the horse.
{The woman} escorted me into the pasture where a large, gray, quarter-horse named Little Man, was lying on the ground, deceased, from what appeared to be a gunshot injury to his right stomach area.
