(From Missouri Southern Athletics)Missouri Southern Athletics Hall of Famer Allen Barbre and former MSSU football standout Mike Rader will be inducted into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame as members of the Class of 2026.
The honors will be formally announced at the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame's Football Luncheon, presented by the Ozarks Coca-Cola/Dr Pepper Bottling Company, on Nov. 18 at the Ozark Empire Fairgrounds. The luncheon is scheduled for 11 a.m. CT.
In addition to Barbre and Rader's Hall of Fame selections, Missouri Southern Athletics will also be represented among this year's Elite 11 Award recipients. The Bounous Football Family of Monett, Jon Franks and Jeremy Tennison will each receive an Elite 11 Award.
Allen Barbre - East Newton High School/Missouri Southern/NFL's Broncos
A former standout lineman at East Newton High School and Missouri Southern State University, Barbre played a decade in the National Football League from 2007 to 2017.
He was selected by the Green Bay Packers in the fourth round of the 2007 NFL Draft and played for the Packers (2007-09), Seattle Seahawks and Miami Dolphins (2010), Seattle Seahawks (2011-13), Philadelphia Eagles (2013-16) and Denver Broncos (2017). Overall, he played in 92 games, including 40 starts.
The 2007 Packers won the NFC North and advanced to the NFC Championship Game after finishing 13-3. Two years later, Green Bay went 11-5 and earned a wild-card berth.
Barbre's football career began at East Newton, where he was a two-time Class 2 All-State selection in 2001 and 2002.
At Missouri Southern, he was a consensus First Team All-American, All-MIAA and All-Region selection in 2006. He became Missouri Southern's ninth All-American and first since Josh Chapman in 2002. Barbre was also the first Lion to earn First Team All-American honors since 1996 and the fifth offensive lineman in program history to receive First Team All-American recognition.
Barbre started 33 of 37 games at Missouri Southern, with all but one of those starts coming at left tackle. He was credited with 254 knockdown blocks and registered 10 tackles, including nine solo stops, on special teams. He was also the first Missouri Southern player at the time to receive an invitation to the NFL Combine.
Barbre has since returned to Granby and works for Midwest Land Management.
Mike Rader - Lockwood High School/Missouri Southern
Rader has been a fixture on the high school football scene in southwest Missouri since the early 1960s. He played at Lockwood from 1963 to 1966 before continuing his career at Missouri Southern State University, where he played running back, defensive back and returned kicks from 1967 to 1970.
Rader went on to a long career as a high school football coach. In 24 seasons as a head coach, his teams compiled a 134-99-2 record.
He began his head coaching career at Lockwood from 1971 to 1975. His 1974 team won a state championship, while the 1975 team advanced to the state semifinals. Rader also coached at Rock Port (1976-79), Miller (1980-84) and Lamar (1990-2000).
As a head coach, his teams won four conference championships and two district championships, both at Lamar in 1993 and 1994. His 1977 and 1978 Rock Port teams advanced to the state semifinals.
Rader returned to Lockwood as an assistant coach in the early 2000s and remained with the program for several years. During that time, Lockwood teams won four conference championships, finished as the Class 1 state runner-up in 2001 and advanced to the state quarterfinals in 2002 and 2003. The 2017 team also won a district championship and reached the state semifinals.
Rader and his wife of 44 years are parents to teachers Ashley, Jessica, Luke and Sara. They have 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, with another great-grandchild due in December.
Rader was inducted into the Missouri Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2018.
Elite 11
Bounous Football Family of Monett
In addition to winning three state championships, Monett High School has produced a number of All-State football talents over the decades, including members of the Bounous Football Family.
Pronounced like "bonus," the five members of the family are Kyle, Brook, Kellen, Beau and Reese.
Kyle was an All-State selection in 1975 and 1977, when the Cubs won their second state championship. Brook was a freshman on that team and later earned All-State honors in 1980. Kyle went on to become a walk-on for Frank Broyles' Arkansas Razorbacks.
Years later, the family's next generation earned All-State honors, with Kellen receiving the distinction in 2008, Beau in 2011 and Reese in 2012. Kellen was also a three-time state wrestling champion who later wrestled at the University of Missouri.
Beau and Reese both signed with Missouri Southern to play football, with Beau earning three letters as a Lion.
Jon Franks - Neosho High School/Washburn University/Missouri Southern State University
Franks was an All-Southwest Conference offensive lineman at Neosho High School. He graduated in 1989 before attending Washburn University for two seasons and then transferring to Missouri Southern.
Franks earned varsity letters in 1992 and 1993 under head coach John Lance and offensive line coach Dan Schible. As a senior, he was a First Team All-MIAA selection as the Lions won the MIAA championship and advanced to the NCAA Division II playoffs.
He then joined the Missouri Southern coaching staff as a graduate assistant for two seasons.
From 1996 to 2004, Franks coached at Stockton, spending five seasons as an assistant before serving as head coach from 2001 to 2004. Stockton won Mid-Lakes Conference championships in 2001 and 2002, both with undefeated records.
Franks then spent 11 seasons, from 2005 to 2015, as the defensive coordinator at Lebanon High School. He later served as the head coach at Rolla High School from 2016 to 2022, leading the Bulldogs to 38 wins in seven seasons after the program had won just 10 games during the five seasons prior to his arrival. Rolla won a district championship in 2017.
Franks has since served as an assistant at St. James High School. The 2026 season marks his 30th year in public education.
He and his wife, Christy, are parents to Madalyn, Colton and Cody.
Jeremy Tennison - Ozark High School/Missouri Southern State University
Tennison emerged on the southwest Missouri sports scene in the mid-1990s, playing on the offensive line for the Ozark Tigers.
Coached by Phil Montgomery with assistants Kevin Patterson and Chris Allison, the 1997 Ozark team advanced to the Class 4 state quarterfinals after defeating Neosho 21-18 for the district championship.
Tennison went on to play four seasons at Missouri Southern in Joplin, earning a varsity letter each season from 1998 to 2001.
He has since given back to the game as a football official at all levels, including MSHSAA. Tennison also has built a career in the banking industry and currently serves as the CEO of HomePride Bank in Mansfield, following a successful tenure as Senior Vice President of Commercial Real Estate at Guaranty Bank in Springfield.
He and his wife, Renae, are parents to two Drury University student-athletes, son Hunter and daughter Avery.
