A Carl Junction woman who claims she slipped on a "flipped up rug" at Freeman East and suffered injuries to her left shoulder, left knee, right hand and right foot, is suing Freeman Health.
The lawsuit, which was filed today in Jasper County Circuit Court, says Shirley Martin was at Freeman East October 10, 2024 to pick up her granddaughter and as she was walking toward the doors to exit the building, she tripped on the rug.
As a result of her injuries, the petition says, Martin "suffered physical pain, mental anguish, loss of quality of life, inconvenience and permanency of injury."
Martin, who is represented by Scott Vorhees of the Joplin firm of Johnson, Vorhees and Martucci, is asking for 'fair and reasonable damages."
