(From the Barry County Sheriff's Office)On 10/20/2026, Barry County Deputies were dispatched to a rural Monett residence after an unknown female had entered the residence with the owner inside. The homeowner asked the female to leave multiple times, and the female refused.
It was reported that the female sat at the kitchen table, began eating food, and was smoking a cigarette.
Barry County Detectives responded due to being the closest unit in the area. A female identified as Jennifer Hagen, 39 years old, from Joplin, MO, was located inside the bathroom of he residence. Hagen was taken into custody and transported to the Barry County Jail.
Hagen was charged with Burglary 1 Degree with a $50,000 cash-only bond. Before law enforcement's arrival, multiple neighbors had responded to help the homeowner and contain the suspect inside the residence.
Sheriff Boyd would like to thank the neighbors for their quick response, as response in a rural area can be lengthy at times. This is a great example of the wonderful county we live in and neighbors helping neighbors.
