Still no mention of Pete Newman arrest in Branson Daily News

The arrest of former Kanakuk Kamp director Pete Newman on four felony sex charges involving underage boys has been the biggest story to hit Branson this week, but you couldn't tell that by reading the Branson Daily News.

The newspaper's online version has been updated, but still contains no mention of the arrest, which has been featured prominently in all Springfield-area television stations, the News-Leader, and other media outlets.

Of course, it could be the newspaper simply does not have the resources to handle the Newman story since Branson has been inundated with major news stories, including Silver Dollar City being named the friendliest park in the theme part industry, businesses bracing for the flu, and the city of Branson gearing up for Ozark Mountains Christmas.

The breaking news section of the website, as usual, has no stories.

Branson is a relatively small market. I would venture to say that in light of the economy, they probably don't have much staff to support all of the stories. If it bothers you so much, you should consider writing freelance for them or submit a press release that they could run.

Any newspaper that does not make a token effort to cover a major story needs to get out of the business. The Branson Daily News has enough of a staff to cover the fluff; it certainly has a big enough staff to cover important news.

Hey Randy if you do a search or look on the Drudgereport.com you will see a article that a lot of Americans are going to news sites in the UK at a record growth rate. What do you think of Matt Drudge as a newsman, or UK newspapers?

I will have to take a closer look at UK newspapers. As far as Drudge as a newsman, he has a good idea of what will appeal to his readers and consistently selects interesting stories. He hasn't broken much original news in the last few years, but I still check out his site frequently.
