Hartzler praises House passage of Putting the Gulf Back to Work Act

 Fourth District Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler is pleased with the House's passage today of a bill that would end the drilling moratorium in the Gulf of Mexico. From the news release:

Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler (MO-4) is praising the decision by the U.S. House to take an important step toward American energy self-sufficiency and lowering gas prices. She and her House colleagues have passed an important piece of legislation: the Putting the Gulf Back to Work Act.


“This bill expands American energy production by ending the Obama Administration’s de facto drilling moratorium in the Gulf of Mexico in a safe and responsible manner,” said Hartzler, an original co-sponsor of the bill. “This will lower gasoline prices, create American jobs, generate revenue to reduce the debt and deficit, and strengthen our national security by decreasing our dependence on foreign energy.”

“The Administration’s restrictive energy development policies have contributed to rapidly rising pump prices,” added Hartzler. “When President Obama took office the average price of a gallon of gasoline was $1.79 – It now hovers around the $4 mark. Our families and neighbors are crying out for relief. It’s high time the Obama Administration put an end to its mandates that keep the price of gasoline artificially high and started taking an interest in the plight of the American people.”

H.R. 1229 passed the House and is headed to the Senate for its consideration.
