Dr. C. J. Huff, Joplin R-8 superintendent, announced this morning that classes have been canceled for the remainder of the school year following Sunday's deadly tornado that destroyed Joplin High School, Franklin Tech, and Irving Elementary, and damaged other buildings, including the district administration building and East Middle School where I teach.
District buildings suffered $50 million worth of damage, Huff said.
