Schoeller touts petition to pressure Nixon to sign voter ID law

(From Secretary of State candidate Shane Schoeller, R-Willard)

As you know, the fight over a commonsense Voter ID law continues to rage on in the Missouri State Capitol.

While CONSERVATIVES believe this commonsense law would prevent voter fraud from groups like ACORN (a group that have been convicted of voter fraud in MISSOURI), LIBERALS have attacked it as discrimination and voter disenfranchisement. I believe that’s nonsense. I have always supported a Voter ID law. I believe it protects one of our most sacred and fundamental rights.

This year, I sponsored the Voter ID bill and just last week, it overwhelmingly passed the Missouri House. But once again, Governor Jay Nixon has indicated that he continues to oppose the bill, as he did last year when he vetoed it.

Today, I am asking you to stand up with me and tell Governor Nixon to sign this bill when it reaches his desk. Join me and tell him to sign our commonsense Voter ID law by signing our petition TODAY at www.ShowMeVoterID.com!

Missouri is a commonsense state. We must send a message that we will not stand for Governor Nixon putting politics before principle. HE MUST SIGN THIS BILL! Thank you for joining with me to help pass this commonsense reform. The fight to protect our elections from voter fraud is too important for us to stand on the sidelines while Nixon vetoes this legislation. We must show him that fair elections matter to all Missourians!

(A few thoughts: Common sense is two words. All caps doesn't help, ACORN is long since gone and the record does not indicate any problems with voter fraud in the state of Missouri. This is unnecessary legislation.)
